Located about 30 miles northwest of Barcelona in Spain, Santa Maria de Montserrat is the location of a monastery founded in the 11th century. It was destroyed by Napoleon’s armies and rebuilt in 1811. It’s historical role grew as a center of resistance during the Spanish Civil War in the 1930’s.
